The film stars Jim Carrey as Truman Burbank, a man who grew up living an ordinary life that-unbeknownst to him-takes place on a large set populated by actors for a television show about him. Then press "Alt B" and the piano roll will highlight the notes of that scale. Once you have the initial scale in the piano roll, click the drop-down arrow on the top-left of the piano roll and choose "Helpers -> Detect Score Scale". A lot of the time you won't need to know about Modes anyway, but this depends on which genres you produce.

One limitation to this is that Pitcher can't tell you different Modes (Dorian, Mixolydian etc.), but if you know some music theory you can figure these out easily enough. Pitcher then displays the notes in that key as lit-up, and you can use Pitcher alongside your piano roll when writing your track. Open the 3xOsc #2 to see what the ghost notes look like (make sure you have ghost notes enabled).Īnother thing you could do is use Pitcher (even if you don't own it), and select a key. I've attached an example flp using the F Sharp Minor Scale. Then open the piano roll and press "Alt V" to turn on Ghost Notes, which means that the notes from that channel are displayed in other piano rolls of that pattern. There's no option that allows you to do this, but you could create an empty channel at the top of each pattern that has long notes in it that correspond to your scale. It's not always very accurate though, better to use the below options. EDIT: Just found an option to do this, but you have to have the initial scale in the piano roll already.
